Southend Liberal Democrats - Working For You
Mother and daughter Charlotte and Katie Kurilecz from Westcliff-on-Sea are so fed up with Boris Johnson's determination to achieve a No Deal Brexit "do or die", that they have torn up their Conservative Party membership cards and joined the Liberal Democrats.
Charlotte explained: "I've left the Conservatives because they have moved away from the centre ground. They have tried to stop debate and get rid of dissenting voices. They are pursuing a reckless No Deal Brexit with no care for the dire consequences."
Daughter Katie continued:. "Growing up my family always supported the Conservatives, and as a fiscal conservative I naturally joined the party too. However recent events, and especially Boris Johnson's obsession with a No Deal Brexit, has forced me to resign.
"The Conservative Party is no longer a party which cares about jobs, the economy or people's everyday lives. They are blinded by the ideology of No Deal Brexit and give no thought to the irreparable damage it will do to the economy and the Union.
"Therefore, I decided to join the Liberal Democrats and feel very much at home. The Liberal Democrats, and Jo Swinson as leader, care deeply for others and are working for a Britain which will benefit all, not just the elite."
"We're delighted to welcome Katie and Charlotte" said Southend West Lib Dem Nina Stimson. "They are a great fit in their new Lib Dem home and I'm looking forward to us campaigning together in the future."
