Southend Liberal Democrats - Working For YouThe Liberal Democrats in Chelmsford saw their vote share more than double in yesterday's election, as they were reconfirmed as the main challenger to the Conservatives.
Commented Candidate Marie Goldman, "I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Chelmsford who placed their trust in me and the Lib Dems yesterday by voting for us. Some people are long-time liberal voters, some were just lending us their vote, and some had switched to vote for us from another party for the very first time.
"It wasn't the result that we wanted, but I am very proud of our campaign.
"After a little bit of time off, I look forward to getting back to my work as Deputy Leader of Chelmsford City Council. There is so much that can be achieved at a local government level and I am keen to continue building a brighter future for Chelmsford."
Added the Lib Dem Council Leader Stephen Robinson, "We didn't turn the huge Lib Dem gains from elections earlier in the year into a win in the MP election but we will carry on delivering a safer, greener and fairer Chelmsford as we lead Chelmsford City Council."
