The Liberal Democrats have chosen Jon Whitehouse as their candidate for Essex Police Fire and Crime Commissioner. The election takes place on 6 May 2021.

Jon has pledged to put community policing, services that prevent crime including youth services, and support for police offices and firefighters at the heart of his campaign.

He said:

"As a Liberal Democrat I believe in actions that actually cut crime not Conservative slogans that sound tough but fail. For almost 10 years Essex Conservatives have cut funding for youth services, undermining attempts to divert young people away from gangs, crime and anti-social behaviour. Our police service is still suffering the effects of having been the lowest-funded police force in the country."

Jon is a district councillor in Epping Forest, first elected in 1999. He previously served as a substitute member on the former Essex Fire Authority.
