Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Joint Administration of Liberal Democrat, Labour and Independent Councillors has successfully retained the Leadership of the Council following the recent local elections

Carole MulroneyThe Joint Administration has seen the Council through thick and thin during the pandemic and yet has still managed to move forward with major projects in the Borough; ensuring a return to economic growth and regeneration in the coming years, despite Tory opposition to schemes they themselves had previously endorsed.

Our green agenda is moving forward with the publication of Southend's Green City Action Plan, new Tree Policy and a raft of environmental projects including electric vehicle (EV) charging, biodiversity and air quality.

Some changes in the Cabinet have extended Cllr Carole Mulroney's role on the environment and planning to include tourism and culture and mean the welcome introduction of Cllr Paul Collins in the pivotal role of performance management and customer-facing services. Paul's invaluable skills in audit and project oversight will drive forward the programme to take Southend to a brighter future and further along the road to recovery through both improved services to residents and major projects.
