Success in Southend City Council elections on 5th May
First, a big thank you to everyone who voted Liberal Democrat on 5th May.
Across Southend as a whole, the Liberal Democrat share of the vote showed a healthy increase compared with 2021, including several stand-out results.
Carole Mulroney, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Southend-on-Sea City Council, was returned for Leigh ward with a more than doubled majority.
It is with great delight we can tell you that Southend now has a new LibDem Councillor in Eastwood Park ward, Rob McMullan. It was a hard-fought campaign but Rob came shining through; we know he will be a great asset to Eastwood Park and a worthy compatriot for Cllr Paul Collins.
In West Leigh ward, Katie Kurilecz came an incredibly worthy second after a massive effort and increasing support across the ward. She did though have to deal with the onslaught of the whole Conservative regime descending on the ward - the Southend West MP lives in the ward, so no surprise there.
To all our other candidates across the City our grateful thanks for all their hard work and to our activists and deliverers, without whom none of it would be possible.
If you support the Lib Dems, who, as we have seen from the national results, are becoming a force to be reckoned with again across the country, why not volunteer as a deliverer, if only for a couple of roads near you?
If you are not already a LibDem member, you can register HERE as a supporter for free or join for as little as £12 a year and know that you are backing hard-working LibDems across Southend who support our local communities every day.
